The Fate of the Point’s Writings

1.   Introduction

Those who have studied the history of Bayan and have followed the history of this religious revolution know well that people of Bayan have been subject to numerous fightings, murder, and pillage from the beginning of the call of the Primal Point to the new faith.

The insurrections of Tabarsi and Zanjan occurred at a time when the Point was imprisoned. The mass murder of the Bayanis happened in Teheran in 1268 two years after the Primal Point suffered martyrdom. Subsequently, the lives of the followers of this faith were in constant danger. Torture and killing of the Bayanis continued for many more years.

These events on one hand and the internal division, which led to the creation of Bahaism, and killings of many Bayani leaders at the hands of Bahais on the other hand resulted in elimination of numerous numbers of followers of this faith. More importantly, their writings and sacred works were not immune from destruction. A large portion of original writings and books fell into the hands of the enemy and were destroyed.

Before he made his claim public, Baha who was the intermediary person between Subh-i Azal and the people of Bayan instructed his men to collect the writings and in particular those of the Primal Point that were in direct conflict with the claims put forward by him, and therefore nothing more than a small number of writings of the Primal Point have survived.
